Privacy Policy

WHO WE ARE

April Sun Farms grows microgreens and herbs in Melbourne. In this policy, "we" means April Sun Farms Pty Ltd.

The policy covers our websites, aprilsun.co and aprilsunfarms.com.au, and the personal information you send us when you email us or order from us. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

WHAT WE COLLECT

Our websites have no forms, no accounts and no advertising trackers. They do use analytics, explained below.

We collect personal information only when you give it to us, usually by email:

  • your name and contact details, such as your email address and phone number;
  • for an order, your delivery address and what you ordered;
  • for a business, its name, ABN and invoicing details;
  • anything else you choose to put in your message.

You can ask us a question without giving your name. To supply an order, we need enough to deliver it and invoice you.

OUR WEBSITES' HOSTING AND ANALYTICS

Our websites run on Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the sites from attacks, Cloudflare processes the technical details every web request carries, such as your IP address and the page you asked for.

We use these details to run and secure the sites, never to identify you. Cloudflare's privacy policy explains how it handles them.

We also measure how the site is used, so we can improve it: which pages people read, how long they stay on each and how far down they scroll, which site or link brought them here, which products they ask to order, and whether they click our email address or our Instagram posts. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits and how quickly pages load. Our own measurement, which runs on this website and keeps its records in our Cloudflare account, does the rest, and notes the country a visit comes from and the kind of device and browser used. Neither sets cookies or stores anything in your browser, and neither receives your name or contact details. To tell one day's visits apart, our own measurement makes a scrambled code from your internet address and browser, using a key it replaces every day and deletes after two days, after which the code can't be traced back to anyone. It never keeps your internet address. We keep its detailed records for 13 months, and only totals after that. Cloudflare's description of Web Analytics says more about Cloudflare's part.

HOW WE USE AND SHARE IT

We use your information to answer you, to take, deliver and invoice your orders, and to keep the business records the law requires. We send news or offers only if you ask for them, and you can stop them at any time.

We never sell or rent personal information. We share it only:

  • with those who help us run the business, such as our email provider, our accountant and delivery services, and only for that work;
  • when the law requires it.

Some of these services store information outside Australia; Cloudflare, for one, runs a worldwide network. We use services that protect personal information to a standard like Australia's.

LINKS AND OUR INSTAGRAM PICTURES

Our pages link to other sites, such as our stockists and wholesalers and our Instagram and Facebook pages. Once you follow a link, that site's own privacy policy applies.

The Instagram pictures on our pages are copies of our own posts, kept on our website. Your browser contacts Instagram only if you click one.

HOW WE STORE AND PROTECT IT

We keep emails and order records in secure email and accounting systems, which only the people who need them can open. We keep business records, such as orders and invoices, for as long as Australian law requires. When we no longer need personal information, we delete it or remove what identifies you.

If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we'll tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

SEEING, CORRECTING OR COMPLAINING

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or to correct it, by emailing us. We'll reply within 30 days.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, email us first, and we'll respond within 30 days. If we don't, or you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
